After being betrayed by the Pirate Academy, Connor returns to The Diablo. However, it is different from before ever since Captain Wrathe's horrible teenage nephew, Moonshine, joins the crew. When Connor is faced with a difficult decision, he questions whether or not he truly belongs in the pirate world. While Connor is faced with his decision, Grace, the Captain, Lorcan, and his donor all go on a mission to restore Lorcan's sight at the Vampirate Sanctuary. At the Vampirate Sanctuary, she feels like she doesn't belong. Connor and Grace will have to face various obstacles in order to find the place they truly belong, and most important, who can they really trust?

As a whole this series and book is really good, so go ahead and read it. I'll just list of complaints and compliments about the third book in the Vampirates series.

Unlike the first two books, it doesn't start out with an unless prologue, so it gets better with that standpoint. Though, with my other complaints, not so much. :S

The details and descriptions of the events and the characters in the series get more interesting and very well done as the series goes along. Also, the plot and action become more and more intriguing in the series as you read through it.

Though, Grace's know-it all kind of attitude and personality, which the author is tried to be passed off as wisdom, is kind of annoying at times. Also, she develops more of a whiny, desperate, needy, martyr-like personality. Yes, I still think that way about Grace, and she gets even more needy as the books go now. :( Out of Connor and Grace, Connor is the only one that has developed more as a main character. Also, this author has a tendency to make the male characters' personality more appealing and interesting than the female characters. :( Though, in this book, some of the females have taken a more interesting turn, except Grace. :(

Another problem is that instead of envisioning the future, since it takes place in the year 2512, I kind on just seeing things that revert to the past. The only clue you have of the future is the modern-like objects that pop up every once in a while. Also, unlike the other books, the time period is posted at the beginning of the first chapter. :)

Making vampires into pirates is a very original idea, and this idea keeps you wanting more books in the series. Just read the series since it has start off in a very good way. :)
